The Best Pillowcases of 2025 – A Buyer’s Guide
Don't buy pillowcases until you read this!
Choosing the right bedding and getting a good night's sleep relies on three key points: Comfort, temperature control, and value for money.
Most people are likely sleeping in cotton, flannel, or polyester pillowcases which are popular choices because of the price or lack of knowledge. We investigate some of the top bedding companies on the market and find out how they're changing the sleep industry!
Bamboo viscose pillowcases are a relatively new product that has started gaining popularity this year because of their superior benefits. The majority of bamboo viscose linens come with hefty price tags because of their quality, however, we're here to help you navigate through different brands and features to find the best value for your money.
For example, you’ll want to look for pillowcases that are breathable and moisture-wicking. Doctors say that we get the deepest, healthiest sleep when our bodies are cool, comfortable, and able to breathe. There's nothing worse than a set of sheets that hangs on to moisture and makes you hot.
You’ll also want some pillowcases which are hypoallergenic and stay fresher for longer. We've found that cotton isn’t very good at being either of these things and tends to hold pollen, allergens, and other buildup until it’s washed! Unless your bedding is being washed daily, you’re likely suffering while you sleep and you just don’t know it.
It can be difficult to know which are the best bamboo viscose pillowcases on the market. That's why Cosy Living has compiled months of research about this emerging category. We’ll show you what to look for and what to avoid when picking your perfect set of sheets, and how it can help

What You Need In The Perfect Pillowcase
Taking all of the healthful attributes listed above into consideration, we've boiled down a list of four key characteristics you should always look for in a great pillowcase. Try to seek out all of these qualities:
The problem with most pillowcases on the market is they are not very versatile in regards to temperature regulation and temperature changes that come with the seasons.
Flannel pillowcases can work great for winter months, but they'll leave you overheated and sweaty the rest of the year. The top cotton pillowcases can be breathable and cooling in the summer months, but won't help to regulate temperatures the rest of the year when you need them to.
Bamboo viscose pillowcases are naturally temperature-regulating and wick away moisture allowing you to stay cool and dry year-round.
Softness and Comfort
The best bamboo viscose pillowcases are silky soft, even softer than Egyptian cotton while offering a heap of additional features..
Hypoallergenic
Common household non-living allergens can thrive when paired with pillowcases that allow them to thrive causing endless nights of tossing and turning. Luckily, bamboo viscose pillowcases are hypoallergenic, breathable, and stay cleaner for longer. It is the combination of these features, working together, that raises their individual benefits exponentially.
Stays Fresh & Clean
Traditional fabrics tend to hold onto odours and stains easily. Bamboo viscose naturally has properties that allow the fabric to look, feel, and smell fresher for longer (we found about 2x as long compared to traditional cotton pillowcases).
What To Avoid When Buying Pillowcases
The higher the thread count, the better the bedding, right? Actually, that is false — we were shocked to discover this, too! Thread-count was originally meant to measure cotton sheets and is actually considered to be an outdated form of measurement for gauging bedding quality. Today, the most popular method for measuring sheets and duvets is by GSM, or, grams per square meter.
Higher thread count bedding also mean a tighter weave causing them to lose any benefit of cooling and breathing.
Many pillowcases are finished with chemicals that are harmful to your skin and body. Companies process their pillowcases with chemical finishes to stop shrinking, wrinkling, and bobbles in the wash. It's incredibly important to look for OEKO-TEX or Certi-PUR certifications when buying pillowcases.
Consumers often think they're safe with cotton pillowcases because cotton is naturally grown, but cotton is often sprayed with chemicals that carry over into the final product. This is a recipe for disaster when you're sleeping in them for 7-8 hours a day.
The best way to ensure your pillowcases are free of chemicals and/or harmful substances is to buy from one of the reputable brands carrying OEKO-TEX or Certi-PUR Certifications.
OEKO-TEX certifies that the product has been tested for harmful substances and that they are, therefore, harmless for human health and safe to use.

Pizuna was our favourite cotton set we reviewed. However, we were definitely missing some of the features we had grown to love with the Cosy House Pillowcases.
Pizuna does have a variety of sizes and colours to choose from that are OEKO-TEX certified, however, customers have noted that they wrinkle easily and don’t tend to last after a number of washings.
Their return policy is also only 30 days, and they do not feature any live customer support options

CONS
- No Temperature Regulation
- Tends to Bobble
- Must Follow Care Instructions Exactly
The Bottom Line
The Brushed 1800 Microfibre Pillow Cases by FLXXIE are super soft and feature a 90-day trial. While they are soft and lightweight, we were missing the temperature-regulating properties like the pillowcases from Cosy House have.
Caution: You must follow care instructions exactly so their colour lasts. Reviewers have stated that their pillowcases lost a lot of their colour if care instructions were not followed.
Some reviewers also state they have had issues with their pillowcases getting bobbled after washing, however, we have not yet been able to replicate these results ourselves. If properly cared for, these pillowcases are a great option, especially with the vast amount of colours to choose from.

Ackly's Bamboo Pillow Cases are very smooth and are a great pick if you’re not worried about a variety of colours or sizes—At the time of writing, their options include white or grey in size 50 x 75 cm.
We were however happy it's OEKO-TEX certified, hypoallergenic, and moisture-wicking, earning it a spot on this list.

DTEX HOMES’ Oxford pillowcases are pretty soft, however, they don't seem to cool as well as the bamboo viscose pillowcases we've tested.
DTEX HOMES has created a great set of pillowcases, we just wish they weren’t so thin. Something to keep in mind also is while the colours are beautiful, they are slightly lighter in person than they are online.
While these weren’t our top pick for pillowcases, it's admirable that they also have the OEKO-TEX certification.
